A letter regarding Arts! Arcata's Call to Artists and request for Community Support & Involvement

Greetings,
My name is Randi Caldwell and I am writing on behalf of Arcata Main Street.

Arts! Arcata is a monthly celebration of visual and performing arts, held the second Friday of each month at more than 30 participating locations throughout Arcata. Participating venues display local artwork every month usually with accompanying music and wine to raise money for local non-profits. This event is hosted by Arcata Main Street which works to promote and enhance the downtown.

Artists can display artwork in any medium that is reasonably accommodated at the venue. During the event, artists may choose to be present to give talks and mingle, but there is no requirement to be present with artwork at the event.

Participating venues for Arts! Arcata are in need of a resource lists of artists. Some venues find it difficult to secure a new artist every month and Arcata Main Street would like to make a contact list available on the Arts! Arcata website for the venues.

Everyone is encouraged to submit their work, especially professional artists who are new to the field of public art.

If you are interested in being on our contact lists for venues please send us your contact information and photos of artwork to info@arcatamainstreet.com-remember, this will be posted on line and can serve as additional exposure for your art. Specific venues will contact you once your work and contact information is posted to the website at www.artsarcata.com. IF you are an interested musician please send us your contact information, genre of music, number of members, how much you charge, and maybe send a sample of your sounds.

We look forward to your submissions and the chance to make Arts! Arcata an even better event for the community with your art! If you have any questions please feel free to call or email us.

Join me and breathe real big, explore motion and pranic energy flow and open into the integral creative consciousness we recognize in each other and cultivate within ourselves. Together our hearts and spirits will grow brighter and brighter as we celebrate our individual uniqueness and full expression within our unifying breath. Come Unity!

It is my pleasure and honor to share yoga with you as we align to our deepest intentions and prepare the body to dance, dance, dance! to the collective pulse of our earth's precious beat. When the body is open and tensions are released, the mind settles down and we truly can relax into our authentic selves; calling presence into play and reflecting the compassionate light of love for each other and mirroring it for ourselves. Only when we take the opportunity to truly treat ourselves well can we then go out and treat others well...with the unfolding realization that we are not separate.

I will be facilitating a multi-level hatha flow class with modification options for healing support and deepening your practice. Remember... no experience, flexibility or strength required... the intimacy of your yoga, your unifying connection with your body, mind, and spirit is a personal practice and the sequencing, breathwork and relaxation are available to all. If you are healing and working with an active injury, perhaps arrive a little early to connect with me before we get going... it is my utmost intention as a facilitator to keep you safe in your practice and play.

Conversations on Love

Recently I was Blessed by one of the most beautiful conversations i have ever had, and I felt it needed to be continued. Here are my thoughts on it.

Love is truth, Love is God, Love is the most beautiful and most raw feeling we could ever have as humans. So here we are the essences of the vision our fathers and mothers had for us, cultivating the one Love. Living in Love, creating happiness as often as we can. We have learned to Love our friends, our community, our music, ourselves, we have made so many changes to be in the path of enlightenment. Still with all that evolution some how we have neglected our ability to Love in the construct of personal relations. Why do we loose the feeling of the one Love when we are in Love with one? What is it that changes our thought processes when it comes to "Lovers"? We are able to love those we call friends unconditionally with out expectations, we allow those people to be themselves, have there faults. And without even a blink of an eye we accept because we Love them. But when in the structure of relationship those same faults, demons, and down falls challenge us to the core. Is it not the same Love? Have we let archaic relationship structures cloud our ability to Love one with one Love? We are embarking on a time of great change and we know deep in our hearts that those that love can be the answer. So now I think we have a challenge to redefine these old traditions with in relation, as we have redefined so many other structures we have been conditioned with. I am not in full support of polysexual relations (if thats what you like go for it) I am personally in support of monogamy with ties to sex. But I am curios about the truth behind polyamory, the ability of the human mind to love in multiples. I truly believe we can change the way we love within relation, as well as how we define relation. I believe this to be one of the more perplexing and challenging philosophical issues i have wrapped my mind around, and i really would love you to sit on this topic, please write any thoughts down. We will be Blessed to hear your thoughts.

The Tenth Annual North Coast Open Studios

Big John's Birthday Bash

My family and I just moved to Eureka. I am so happy to find there is house heads here and other lovers of electronica. I thought I was stuck forever with deadheads.. solstice- time of deep journeys

This is the most powerful Solstice that we've had in modern or ancient history, so this is BIG and I hope you take advantage of this information..
The Solstice is when the Sun moves into the sign of Capricorn and our days start getting longer (the return of the SUN/ SON). This Solstice is so rare, that no one knows how long ago this line-up actually last occurred, but we are sure it hasn't happened in the last 26,000 years. This means we have NO DATA on what to expect, so I'm simply giving you my best guess. If anything can propel us in the right direction to assist the planet, it'll be that cycle, when revolutions will be the order of the day. I'm not talking about revolutions that occur with
guns. I'm talking about a revolution in our consciousness. That's the only thing that can save this planet and our lives, along with everything else that lives on Earth.

Pre-sale is from 5-6 pm. It's a $10.00 entrance fee, but then you get first pick of the art.

I think they said 90 artists participated, so there's a large selection of ORIGINAL ART for sale, from $30 - $60.

Hay all!
I've tried to post a this before, but for some reason, it didn't registrar and folks couldn't read what I had written. So, I'm going to attempt to write it out again and hopefully this time, we'll have more responses,

Ok, so...a little info and background. I'm in Israel, and working on a project out here to grow herbs for the community. Also, wanting very much to have a program available for kids and their parents to learn about plants and how they communicate with us on all levels. It's really something that isn't being done here and I would like to bring this opportunity to light. I need some help. That's way i'm writing this request. We have a few green houses, so climate is not an issue. We need seeds! All different kinds, but organic. Herbs and winter vegetables.

The list for herbs:Elder flowers ,Yarrow ,Sage ,Rose hips ,Echinacea,Mullein,Astragalus,
Poke Root,Elecampane ,Thyme.

We are asking for 30 seeds each be sent to Israel.
We are asking for donations, since this project can really use all the help it can get and we really don't have the funds to get these seeds. Also, we request that the seeds are from your own garden and collected by you. It's a beautifal thing to know that the seeds that we are receiving are from people who cared for these plants and havested the seeds themselves. There is a story there and it makes it interesting to explain where these seeds came from and who cared for them. We like telling it this way.

Our request for organic Veggie seeds:
Celery ,Chinese leaves ,Dark greens ,Leeks ,Mushrooms, Squashes ,Winter roots ,Winter salads.

If it's not too much trouble to send the seeds with labels so we know what is what.

If you have any questions please feel to send me a message.
Thanks so much for helping us with this project. I mean a lot to us and the many people who's lives will be changed by your seeds.

Dear friend looking for a house and roommate

I have a good friend who's looking for a place.

She's hoping to move out from Ft. Collins, Colorado by Sept 1, and is looking to share a two bedroom place with someone who won't mind her two wonderful, CLEAN dogs. She'll be attending HSU eventually (not this semester), and in the mean time is seeking full-time work locally. She's 21, was raised in a hippie-dippie environment, but is not TOO hippie-dippie, and besides, she's my friend. She's an omnivore, but is respectful of others' kitchen needs. Here's the best thing- she loves doing dishes!!!! If that's not a rarity, I don't know what is.

I just moved from the Humboldt area and my US Cellular phone does not work well here in Auburn. Unfortunately for me I am under contract until May 2008.
However if anyone wishes to take over the contract here is what you get:

This is a cross post with DGS.

After all these years I don't think I've posted a mix. How pathetic. Well thats all changing now.

Here is a link to a demo mix I made last week for a DC area crew. They are requesting 30 minutes so its a short one but I try to show two of the many styles I play. It starts with techno going from minimal to a more percussive style then moves into electro house touching on the funky side of electro. I was inspired by the recent show in DC featuring Starkillers (bad ass mofo) and Dj Dan so I have a Nick Terranova track followed by a Starkiller's remix of Dj Dan. The mix ends with one last transition going into Vocal house with a beautiful Brazilian female vocal.
